A few things to know before the treats come out.
Asking for a friend.
Does my dog need to be trained?
Not at all. Your dog does not need to sit perfectly, stay for long periods, or act like a professional model. I work with treats, toys, movement, breaks, and whatever motivates your dog. The goal is their real personality, not perfection.
What if my dog is shy, anxious, reactive, or very energetic?
Tell me in advance. We’ll talk through what helps your dog feel comfortable and plan around it, whether that means more space, a quiet location, or room to move. For safety, some dogs or situations may need a private location, additional planning, or a different session format.
Can I be in the photos with my dog?
Yes. Your relationship is part of their story. Choose a dog-only session, a few relaxed family portraits, or a session built around you and your dog together.
Can you photograph more than one dog?
Yes. Let me know how many dogs will join, their ages and temperaments, and whether they can safely and comfortably be photographed together. Additional time or a custom session may be recommended.
What should I bring?
Bring favorite high-value treats, a toy or noisemaker, water, waste bags, a leash, and anything meaningful you’d like included. I’ll also provide a detailed preparation guide before your session.
Where do outdoor sessions take place?
At selected locations in and around your area, including forest preserves, neighborhoods, private homes, and other approved locations. We’ll choose a setting that fits your dog’s personality and the photographs you want.
What if the weather is bad?
If conditions are unsafe or unsuitable for an outdoor session, we’ll reschedule for the next available date that works for both of us. Your session retainer transfers to the new date according to the session agreement.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes. A Muttographer gift certificate is a lovely way to celebrate a new puppy, a birthday, an adoption, the holidays, or someone who loves their dog like family. Get in touch to arrange one.
How much is a session, and what is included?
A session is $400 and includes five edited digital images. Choose studio, outdoors, or both. There is no time limit, and you can purchase additional photos and prints.
What about cats and other pets?
Tell me a little about your pet when you get in touch. We can talk through the possibilities and what would help them feel comfortable.
